December 21, 2012 2012 Design Highlights
No one can deny that 2012 has been an incredible year here in the UK. Between the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics, the country has been kept very busy! These events were key celebrations that everyone from children to corporate companies used to exhibit their creative talents in order to show support for the country and to join in with the celebratory atmosphere.
The design industry was really influenced by the events in the UK this year, with lots of innovative designs and branding appearing all over the country. The international attention the UK received really seemed to inject confidence into the country, so designers and individuals with creative talent didn’t hold back!
Besides the Jubilee and Olympic celebrations, 2012 in general was a brilliant year for the design industry. There were an array of successful exhibitions such as 100% Design, London Design Festival and Clerkenwell Design week to name a few. These exhibitions are definitely ones to watch out for in 2013.
A key event for us at MinaLima which has developed through 2012 has been the launch and rise of The Printorium. The past year has been a great success for The Printorium and since our presence and keynote presentation at Leaky Con in August this year, we gained a lot more attention than we had been expecting! Over the past few months we have been busy building the collection and we were delighted when Harrods became our first official UK retailer – what a start to the beginning of what we hope is a long and successful journey with The Printorium.
We are looking forward to 2013 and to see what the year ahead has in store for us at MinaLima. 2012 was definitely a year to be proud of, not just for us but for the UK in general, it’s a year that will be remembered for generations to come.
We hope you all have a joyful Christmas and New Year, onwards and upwards to 2013!

I really enjoy the graphic with the different flags, I wish I could see it larger! I’m not British – is there a significant difference between those three flags?

Hi Kim,
Apologies for the delayed reply to your message. The image shows different ways the Union Jack flag is sometimes drawn. The top flag is the current correct version, and the lower two show how sometimes it can be wrongly placed. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
